"This is a little-used day trail to unique and perfectly named Turbid Lake. Many maps and guidebooks show a trail going from the Pelican Valley to Turbid Lake, but the National Park Service has closed this route for bear-management reasons. The best way to see Turbid Lake is to start from the East Entrance Road and go 3 miles north to the lake along an abandoned road. The trail starts out with a gradual, 400-foot climb along the east side of Lake Butte and then drops down to connect with an abandoned road that used to be paved. Make a mental note of this junction, because it’s easy to miss on the way back." Read more
