Day Hikes in Grand Teton National Park

The South Boundary Trail crosses the entire south end of Yellowstone National Park. This hike begins outside the south entrance gate of Yellowstone near the John D. Rockefeller Jr. Memorial Parkway and parallels the south boundary of the national park. En route to South Boundary Lake, the trail passes Tanager Lake, a 32-acre lake in a boggy, wetland meadow. The bucolic meadow is an excellent place for spotting moose and observing birds. Three miles further west is South Boundary Lake, a forested 10-acre lake lined with pond lilies. The South Boundary Trail continues west, connecting with trails to the Pitchstone Plateau, Union Falls, and the Bechler Ranger Station.
