"A tough climb to a summit of one of the park’s major mountains to enjoy a worldclass view. The hike up to the lookout on 10,308-foot Mount Sheridan may be the most scenic mountaintop hike in the park. It definitely rivals the climbs up Mount Washburn and Mount Holmes for scenery. At least it takes more effort to get here. It’s a 21.6-mile round-trip from the Heart Lake Trailhead on South Entrance Road to the summit and back. For a description of the route from the Heart Lake Trailhead to the beginning of the route up Mount Sheridan, refer to the Heart Lake hike description (Hike 105). From Heart Lake the trail starts out through large meadows before going into burned lodgepole and a series of large switchbacks." Read more
