Duck Lake is a 37-acre lake that sits in a deep basin at West Thumb, less than 0.2 miles from Yellowstone Lake. This half-mile trail follows a ridge between the two lakes with scenic views of the Absaroka Range across Yellowstone Lake.

The trail begins adjacent to the West Thumb Geyser Basin, one of the smaller geyser basins in Yellowstone. A level half-mile boardwalk loops thorough the basin and along the shore of Yellowstone Lake.
