"Bozeman, Montana, is an active, thriving town dating back to the 1880s. It is rich in character, history and landscape. There are eight historical districts, a wide variety of museums, art galleries, musical events, and is home to Montana State University. Surrounded by extraordinary wilderness, Bozeman is a gateway city to the Gallatin National Forest and Yellowstone National Park.
The Black Butte Creek Trail begins just northwest of Black Butte. The trail parallels Black Butte Creek up a beautiful forested drainage to a meadow at the base of King Butte. The narrow valley has aspen, lodgepole pine and Douglas fir. This trail is an access route up to Big Horn Peak, Shelf Lake and the summit of Sheep Mountain."
