Witch Creek

Witch Creek Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Witch Creek is heated by the runoff water from numerous hot springs along its banks. The creek is located along the trail to Heart Lake. To reach the trailhead, drive 5.2 miles south of Grant Village Junction to the Heart Lake Trail parking area on the east side of the road. It’s about an 8-mile hike from the trailhead to Heart Lake. The last 3 miles of the trail follow Witch Creek, which empties into the lake. There are some warm-water channels in Witch Creek about 1 mile north of Heart Lake where the cold creek water mixes with the runoff from nearby hot springs. As with all thermal bathing in Yellowstone, you assume your own risks when you soak in Witch Creek."
