Violet Creek

Violet Creek Professional Review and Guide

"This thermally heated creek is located on the Mary Mountain Trail at the northwestern edge of the Hayden Valley. Reach the trailhead by driving 11.6 miles north of Fishing Bridge Junction. A hike of 4 miles brings you to mile-long Violet Creek. Hot springs scattered along the banks of the waterway create a number of warm pools in the creek. Be extremely careful where you walk, as there are some very hot thermal areas on the banks of Violet Creek. The Hayden Valley is prime grizzly bear country, and overnight camping is not allowed. Visitors must plan to either hike back to their cars or continue another 16 miles to the west trailhead of the Mary Mountain Trail on the road to Old Faithful."
