The Death Canyon trailhead is located at Phelps Lake at the south end of Grand Teton National Park. The trailhead offers access into deep and remote canyons that lead west to Static Peak, the Alaska Basin, and the dramatic Death Canyon Shelf. The canyon trails connect to the Teton Crest Trail and south to Jackson Hole Ski Resort. While the trail to Phelps Lake is fairly easy and quite popular, the routes into the canyons become increasingly more strenuous and less traveled.
