Star Plunge Professional Review and Guide
"Offering soaking, swimming, and sunning options to suit most any desire, Star Plunge is the granddaddy of commercial resorts in Hot Springs State Park. Billing itself as a “full recreational facility,” Star Plunge overflows with swimming and soaking opportunities for both indoor and outdoor hot water enthusiasts. The roof over the 40-foot by 120-foot indoor pool consists of exposed wood beams alternating with skylights. The pool’s southern end contains a 2-foot wading pool (called the “baby pool”) and an 8-foot by 15-foot Jacuzzi with plenty of bubblers to soothe aching back muscles. The indoor pool temperature ranges from 94 to 98 degrees F, and the sides and bottom of the pool are lined with a porcelain-smooth layer of pale pink mineral deposit, the result of decades of contact with the thermal water. Like all swimming and soaking facilities in Hot Springs State Park, the pools and steam room at Star Plunge are supplied with hot water from nearby Big Horn Spring."
