"A huge open-air swimming pool on the banks of the Big Horn River, supplied by a travertine-encrusted hot water well. The adjacent RV park is popular with caravans as well as families. Advertised as the “largest hot mineral pool in Wyoming,” the 72-foot by 235-foot swimming pool certainly is immense. The water source for this gargantuan pool is an exploratory oil well drilled in 1918.

Instead of oil, the well rig tapped a pressurized reservoir of hot water that erupted with such force that the oil derrick was destroyed. W. B. Garrett, the owner of the well, named it “Sacajawea Well” in honor of the Shoshone guide for Lewis and Clark whose grave is located on the nearby Wind River Indian Reservation. Over the last 70 years the hot water has deposited a colorful travertine cone around the well, which can be seen at the southern edge of the swimming pool. Developed."
