The ride begins 6.5 miles west of Tensleep and crosses the southern end of the Bighorn Basin through the Honeycomb Buttes. The ride begins on a dirt road with some rough areas, mud holes, ad ruts. After 37.4 miles, the road becomes gravel. All of the route is on BLM roads with right-of-way passage on the few segments of private land. The private land is well marked and care must be taken to stay on the roads when crossing these areas. This ride has a technical rating of 2+. The first 37 miles have some rocky segments, while the final 23 miles have pockets of dense gravel and ruts. But the road is in good condition as long as it’s dry. The road is especially slick after significant rainfall. Watch for potential vehicular traffic beginning at mile 37, on the Nowood Road.
