Stough Lakes & Middle Popo Agie River Loop Professional Review and Guide
"From the parking lot, walk back along the entrance road for 20 yards to the Stough Creek Lakes Trail and turn west-southwest onto that path. This wide, rather rocky trail slowly climbs through a forest composed mostly of lodgepole pines and, at least initially, without any good views. At 0.8 mile you enter the Popo Agie Wilderness and come to some possible campsites at shallow Roaring Fork Lake. The trail now crosses Roaring Fork Creek just as that stream flows out of the lake of the same name. By late summer it is usually possible to keep your feet dry by rock-hopping the creek a little downstream from the official crossing."
