Rainbow Lake Trail-Dream Lake to Rainbow and Middle Fork Lakes

Rainbow Lake Trail-Dream Lake to Rainbow and Middle Fork Lakes Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This scenic route, part cross-country, ascends to beautiful Rainbow Lake at timberline, crosses an alpine divide, and then descends into the upper Middle Fork basin above immense Middle Fork Lake, one of the largest backcountry lakes in the Bridger Wilderness.

Experienced backpackers can cross the Middle Fork divide at one of two obvious passes and return to the Fremont Trail at Raid Lake via Bonneville Basin. Others, either on foot or horseback, can follow the shores of Middle Fork Lake to its west end, where the trail begins the descent to Sandpoint Lake and the Fremont Trail. Whether you choose the Middle Fork Lake environs as a backcountry base camp or use this trail as part of a high-country circuit, this trip will be a memorable and rewarding excursion."
