Jackass Pass Trail-Big Sandy to Cirque of the Towers and Lizard Head Meadows

Jackass Pass Trail-Big Sandy to Cirque of the Towers and Lizard Head Meadows Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Much like Titcomb Basin in the northern Bridger Wilderness, the Cirque of the Towers is a mecca for climbers and backpackers in the southern reaches of the wilderness. Although the cirque is
much smaller in area than Titcomb Basin, it harbors the greatest concentration of big walls and granite spires in the range. The summits here are lower than those farther north; the highest—12,842-foot Lizard Head Peak—is nearly 1,000 feet lower than Gannett Peak.

Travelers should expect much company between the trailhead and the cirque. The impact of too many backpackers in the past has led to a prohibition of camping within 0.25 mile of Lonesome Lake, at the foot of Pingora Peak in the Popo Agie Wilderness."
