Lily Lake Professional Review and Guide
"This beautiful, 40-acre mountain lake sits at 7,670 feet just outside the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness. The easy hike utilizes well-worn fisherman paths along the southern portion of Lily Lake, which has an abundance of water lilies and is surrounded by a forest. Some of the best views of Pilot and Index Peak can be seen along Lily Lake Road en route to the lake. The towering peaks are volcanic remnants reaching more than 11,000 feet on the northeast end of the Absaroka Range.Head east and rock-hop across a tributary of Lake Creek. The trail leads through the forest to the shoreline of Lily Lake near a rock outcropping. Take the fisherman trail to the left, which borders the lake along the southwest shore. Continue to the boat launch area. Walk up the gravel road, making a loop back to the parking area."
