Lillis and Vernon Lakes

Pilot Peak, Wyoming

Lillis and Vernon Lakes Professional Review and Guide

"Lillis Lake is a small 3-acre tarn with a wet, swampy shoreline. Vernon Lake, just south of Lillis Lake, encompasses 8 acres in a similar wetland. Both backcountry lakes are surrounded by dense forest and mountain peaks, including Pilot and Index Peaks rising prominently in the background. Few people hike to Vernon and Lillis Lakes, so after the Kersey Lake junction, you may not see anyone along the trail. Moose often frequent the meadows. The hike begins by the Clarks Fork Canyon Falls on the Kersey Lake Trail, part of the popular Beaten Path Trail that leads 26 miles to the East Rosebud."
