Lower Sheep Creek Canyon to Curtis Canyon Viewpoint Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Lower Sheep Creek Canyon lies near the east end of the National Elk Refuge in the Teton National Forest. The access trail begins in the refuge and quickly enters the mouth of the canyon. The hike leads to two overlooks located on the west slope of the Gros Ventre Range. From the overlooks, perched 600 feet above the valley floor, are expansive views across the elk refuge, the Teton Range, the Snake River Range, Jackson Peak, Curtis Canyon, and into Sheep Creek Canyon.
Take the wide path across the open sage flats on the east end of the National Elk Refuge. The undulating path climbs the canyon wall to open meadows and returns to the creek on the vertical north canyon wall. A short distance ahead, the trail ends at the creek."
