Goodwin Lake Gros Ventre Wilderness

National Elk Refuge, Wyoming

Goodwin Lake: Gros Ventre Wilderness Professional Review and Guide

"Goodwin Lake sits in a glacial cirque on the east flank of the prominent, cone-shaped Jackson Peak, directly east of the town of Jackson. The small timberline lake in the Gros Ventre Wilderness is rimmed with whitebark pine and Engelmann spruce on the north, east, and south shores.

The steep talus slopes of Jackson Peak rise from the western shoreline. The trail to Goodwin Lake follows a narrow, 9,000-foot ridge through open forests—high above Sheep Creek Canyon—to the north end of the lake at the base of Jackson Peak."
