Hessie Lake Professional Review and Guide
"Expect heavy weekend pressure at this popular lake. Several well-used camping areas are found along the east and south sides of the lake. However, firewood is limited. Heavily timbered shorelines make fly-casting difficult, and for some reason cutthroat trout are quite skeptical. But by late evening, the fish become a little hungry and not so particular. This heavily timbered lake lies at the base of a rocky point in the East Fork of Smiths Fork Drainage. Access starts at the south side of China Meadows Campground. Take the East Fork trail 3.5 miles south to the Henrys Fork Trail junction. Then head east toward Henrys Fork 2.0 miles to the Hessie Lake turnoff. Travel another 0.25 mile west and you’ll be at Hessie Lake."
