Paintbrush Divide is in the rocky backcountry of the central Teton Range. The divide lies at the upper end of Paintbrush Canyon between Leigh Canyon to the north and Cascade Canyon to the south. From the summit are sweeping vistas of the lakes beyond the mouth of the canyon, the winding Snake River, the Jackson Hole valley, and spectacular 360-degree views of the Teton peaks. Snowfields usually cover portions of the trail in the upper canyon until mid- August. The hike can be combined with Cascade Canyon as a 19-mile loop.
