Lunch Tree Hill Loop Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"The Lunch Tree Hill Loop is an interpretive trail that begins at Jackson Lake Lodge. The trail climbs the hill to the north and circles the sagebrush-covered blufftop. Atop the small hill is a magnificent overlook and picnic area with panoramic vistas of the Willow Flats wetlands, Jackson Lake, and the entire Teton Range, forming the backdrop. This spot is the historic site where, in 1926, John D. Rockefeller Jr. and his family had lunch with Horace Albright, then superintendent of Yellowstone Park. En route are interpretive panels about the area’s history, wildlife, and plant life."
