This trip of moderate length takes you by Donoho Point, Hermitage Point, and counterclockwise around the largest island on Jackson Lake, Elk Island. The island and the inlets and bays on its north side are fun to explore. This trip covers much of the south end of Jackson Lake. It combines island hopping with open-water paddling. The crossings are easily managed in calm waters. Read the description for trip 25 for details about the paddle around Donoho Point and on to Hermitage Point. Get an early start so that afternoon wind will pose less of a problem for your return. Be aware of afternoon winds and accompanying waves. Attractions include open water, island hopping, views of the Teton Range, some hiking, bird watching, and fishing.
