This is a very pleasant paddle through and around the inlets, channels, and islands just south of Colter Bay. The route travels through several narrow, almost intimate channels and inlets on the way to Half Moon Bay, and then along stretches of the open lake approaching Little Mackinaw Bay, before heading back in to Colter Bay and the boat launch. This is a wonderful paddle through the protected inlets, narrow bays, and around the islands south of Colter Bay. The waterscape is an intimate one in a glacially carved, miniature fjordlike setting. Be aware of afternoon winds and accompanying waves. Attractions include interesting shoreline with many inlets, narrow bays, and islands to explore, bird watching, and fishing.
