Granite Canyon is a U-shaped, glacier-carved canyon near the south end of the Teton Range. The canyon trail connects with the Teton Crest Trail near Marion Lake and also with the summit of Rendezvous Mountain at the top of the Teton Village aerial tram. The hike can be as short or long as you choose, as entering the canyon for even a short distance is a rewarding hike. The hike begins at the mouth of Granite Canyon and climbs moderately along the cascading watercourse to the upper canyon and high mountain meadows. Near the meadows, the creek branches into three forks by the upper Granite Canyon patrol cabin, a rustic log cabin used primarily by work crews maintaining the trails and by patrolling rangers. There are great views down the canyon. The Granite Canyon Trail can be combined with the Open Canyon Trail for a 21-mile loop or with Rendezvous Mountain for a 12.4-mile loop.
