Located 30 miles directly west of Meeteetse, just outside the northwestern border of the Washakie Wilderness. A wild 2- or 3-day trip following a little-known and even less-traveled creek drainage. “The Greybull District offers opportunities for the hiker who isinterested in solitude, scenery, wildlife, and who does not necessarily need to rely on well-marked trails to navigate in the wilderness.” She also mentioned that the trails cross streams and rivers a number of times, and that high-water conditions (pre-Fourth of July) can make these crossings dangerous, if not impossible. When she noted that hikers often travel 10 days and have limited or no contact with other people, I knew I had to explore this area. Jack Creek is a swiftly tumbling tributary in a large and long drainage.
