Stough Creek Basin Trail-Worthen Meadow Reservoir to Stough Creek Basin

Stough Creek Basin Trail-Worthen Meadow Reservoir to Stough Creek Basin Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This trail visits an alpine lake basin carved into the flanks of Roaring Fork Mountain in the southern reaches of the Popo Agie Wilderness. Grand vistas of the rugged peaks of the Popo Agie country accompany travelers for the final 3 miles to vast Stough Creek Basin, a broad cirque encompassing more than 3 square miles on the north slope of Roaring Fork Mountain.

No fewer than thirty lakes dot this basin, ranging in elevation from 10,300 feet to 11,000 feet, and many harboring populations of cutthroat and brook trout. A person could spend a week’s time exploring just half of them. Hikers who enjoy rambling for miles above timberline will be attracted by numerous nontechnical routes that lead to Roaring Fork Mountain’s stony alpine plateau."
