Paintbrush Canyon Trail to Paintbrush Divide Professional Review and Guide
"Located 25 miles north of Jackson, in the center of Grand Teton National Park. A steep and rugged journey into the spectacular, rocky innards of the Teton Range."
--Bill Hunger, Hiking Wyoming (Falcon Guides).
Paint Brush is one of my favorite hikes in the Tetons. Rugged beautiful scenery. Fabulous view of the Tetons. There is a lot of elevation gain and it is difficult if you go clear to the top but well worth it.
My brother and myself only went in as far as Paintbrush Lower, but it was still an incredible hike as we circled Leigh lake and went up and then came back down the other side. We camped that night probably 3-4 miles up and it was awesome. We had a family of Marmots around us and saw a Moose off in the distance, not to mention the breathtaking views. Would highly recommend this hike if your in the Grand Teton NP. Also you need a backcountry permit and bear canister as well.
great, breathtaking (altitdue and visual), difficult (10 being worse about an 8). it's about 20 miles.
definately counter-clockwise. going over the top would have been a real scramble if we went the other way. plenty of loose rocks on the switchbacks.
Made it in a day. plan a stay at lake solitude though. if you bring dry clothes you can enjoy a cooling swim (even if it's a few minutes) 3/4 of the way up you see jenny, string and jackson lakes. worth the pixs.

Spectacular hike, incredible views as you gain elevation. About 400 yards from the top of the divide the trail is eroded and hard to pick up. I had to scramble up some skree it was a bit difficult.
I did the entire loop in one day 07:00 AM to 5:00 PM. One of the best hikes I've ever done.
