Lost Lake is a picturesque tarn surrounded by a pine forest and rock cliffs in the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness. The 30-acre lake sits at at an elevation of 8,237 feet between Granite Lake and Lake Reno. The hike to the high mountain lake offers excellent views of Pilot Peak and Index Peak. En route, the trail passes a waterfall and parallels Gilbert Creek, the outlet stream of Lost Lake. Fishermen paths skirt the shoreline.
