This is a very beautiful trail to hike, as you climb the switchbacks you can see Bradley and Taggart lakes below you. Both Surprise and Amphitheater lakes are amazing and offer lots of chances for very nice photos. This is a very very busy trail with lots of day hikers as well as backpackers and climbers as well. Surprise lake is the only area that allows camping but it is limited to 3 sites. From the trailhead to Amphitheater is 5 miles so this is a 10 mile round trip hike.
