Upper Gallatin River Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This is a great day hike or overnighter through an open valley with scenic campsites, especially for anglers.
The Upper Gallatin Valley, like Fan Creek, gives you the option of going as far as you choose instead of having a specific destination. You can go to campsite WB6 and the start of the Gallatin Range Bear Management Area, or you can turn back at any earlier point.
About 0.25 mile after leaving the trailhead, you cross the Gallatin River on a sturdy footbridge. After the bridge the trail stays consistently flat and easy as you hike along the north edge of the treeless Gallatin Valley. You can fi sh the river (don’t forget to get a park fishing permit), watch elk, or simply have a relaxing hike."
