Snake River Loop

Snake River Loop Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This remote backpacking route goes by Snake Hot Springs and fords the river four times.

This hike avoids the problematic shuttles of most long backpacking trips in Yellowstone. You start and finish at the South Boundary Trailhead, but it’s not a true loop. Instead it’s a lollipop loop where you retrace your steps over the 5.7 miles to the Snake River Trail junction.

You start this hike with a big ford of a big river, the Snake. It’s usually easy to cross after mid-July, but to play it safe check river conditions at the South Entrance Ranger Station before you leave."
