Sevenmile Hole Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"A popular day hike or overnighter featuring views of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and thermal areas along the trail.
Most hikes start uphill and finish on a downhill, but this one starts on the rim of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and drops to the river below. Local hikers sometimes refer to it as Sevenmile Hole because it feels like 5 miles down and 7 miles up. Actually and officially, it’s named for the distance below Lower Falls, about 7 miles.
Even though it’s a tough hike up from the river, this trail offers up some of the core wonders of Yellowstone—the brilliant colors of the canyon, thermal areas, waterfalls, and scenic campsites. There are no water sources along this trail except the Yellowstone River at Sevenmile Hole, so bring plenty of water."
