Canyon Rim South Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"An extremely popular, easy day hike with ever-lasting views of Lower Falls, Upper Falls, and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. There are two ways to see the sights of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. You can drive from parking lot to parking lot, get in and out of your car
several times, and call it a day. Or you can take a wonderful hike along the canyon rim to see it all and get some exercise too.
The trail from Chittenden Bridge to Sublime Point is 3.5 miles. You can hike all of it or whatever section suits you. The scenery is world renowned the entire way, with many views of the mighty Yellowstone River and its Grand Canyon, Lower Falls and Upper Falls, all the way to Sublime Point, and a view of Silver Cord Cascades plunging down into the canyon from Ribbon Lake. The trail gets heavy use, and parts of it are paved to accommodate its popularity."
