A warm outdoor pool with hotter indoor private baths, located on the Wind River Indian Reservation. Chief Washakie Plunge is located on the Shoshone and Arapaho Recreation Complex. The plunge features a 98-degree-F outdoor pool with a diving board and small water slide, an outdoor Jacuzzi, and a small wading pool. South of the plunge is a large gravel-lined pool that contains the vent of the 112-degree-F hot springs. A headgate controls the amount of water flowing from the pool into the plunge. Inside the bathhouse are nine private plunge rooms. Bathers seated on wooden benches in the 4-foot by 8-foot plunges can lean against whirlpool jets and let the 102-degree-F water soothe aching muscles. Developed.

While at the 54th annual Pow Wow near Riverton, Wy., three of us women were told about this place. So we ventured out on the most deserted road, in 100ยบ July weather,7-26-08. The views going there are amazing. You would not think there was some watering hole anywhere. When we drove by, we thought it was a country club. Joked about playing golf. But realized this was the place, and it was amazing! I will say, it is very clean. Very nice folks there to help. Extra suits available, the private area- not sure about, but were warm and interesting. The outside pool area was fabulous. The water might smell a tinge, as if, it is mineral--right? and it gives you a most deserved relaxed feeling after any stressful day. It is very affordable and great for family. The women's dressing area is private and accommodating. Hey anywhere I can dive into a pool that is 13 ft deep, you know it is great. Thanks for the diving board! A must stop place, but could use a better outside sign for the clueless like us.
