Trail Lake Trailhead to Bomber Falls

Trail Lake Trailhead to Bomber Falls Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The unmaintained trail to Bomber Falls is one of the longer day trips from the Trail Lake Trailhead. It leads from the meadows of Bomber Basin at the Glacier Trail junction to the whitewater ribbon of Bomber Falls. Above the falls lies the scattered wreckage of a B-17 bomber that crashed during World War II, reportedly while strafing an unidentified mammal. All crewmen lost their lives in the only crash of a military aircraft in the Wind Rivers.

Expect to encounter faint tread, a tangle of fallen trees, and steep pitches on the Bomber Lake Trail. The trail is impassable to pack stock. There are a few good places to camp in Bomber Basin for travelers who wish to spend more than one day exploring the East Torrey Creek valley."
