From the trailhead, follow the Angles Trail into the deep forest, and ignore a trail that you quickly reach to your left. The trail begins its descent slowly, but soon becomes steeper. After about 0.7 mile, you break out of the dense forest into steep side slope meadows with fine views of the west portion of the Teton Wilderness—Mount Randolph, Gravel Mountain, Gravel Ridge, and so on. Highlights: Hike traces a fairly gentle and scenic route around the lower reaches of the Buffalo Fork country, including the intimate, scenic, and easy-to-follow 5.5-mile stretch of the old North Buffalo outfitter trail.
