The Pahaska-Sunlight Trail is an 18-mile trail beginning at the North Fork Shoshoni River near Pahaska Tepee just outside the east Yellowstone entrance. The trail heads north, eventually leading thorough Camp Monaco, a hunting camp established in 1913 by Buffalo Bill Cody during a trip with the Prince of Monaco. The trail ends in Sunlight Basin, the next major drainage to the north. This hike follows the first 3.5 miles of the trail along the North Fork Shoshoni River to Sam Berry Meadow. The grassy meadow sits on the banks of the river fringed with spruce and pines and has a primitive campsite. The trail has magnificent views of the surrounding peaks and the Sleeping Giant Winter Sports Area.
