Beautiful 26-mile drive, climbing from the East Entrance through a high mountain pass, past two small lakes, and down to the rocky shoreline of Yellowstone Lake, where the first geothermal features are seen from this approach to the Grand Loop. This region offers good waterfowl viewing as you drive on toward the Fishing Bridge on the north shore of the lake.
Special attractions: Sylvan Pass, tiny Eleanor and Sylvan lakes, shoreline of Yellowstone Lake, Steamboat Point, Indian Pond, Fishing Bridge, and museum. Nearby points of interest: Lake Butte Overlook, Pelican Valley. This eTrail is a complete description of a scenic drive with a route map and information on the best travel seasons, interesting sites, recreation opportunities, camping locations, and much more.
