Buffalo Bill Cody Scenic Byway Professional Review and Guide
"A 27.5-mile canyon highway along the North Fork Shoshone River to the east entrance of Yellowstone National Park. The Buffalo Bill Cody Scenic Byway travels through a wide canyon carved by the pristine North Fork of the Shoshone River. President Theodore Roosevelt called this the 50 most beautiful miles in America. The two-lane highway is paved and has numerous scenic turnouts. Traffic in summer is fairly constant and light the remainder of the year. The scenic byway is open year-round to Pahaska Tepee, but the continuation of the highway in Yellowstone National Park is plowed and open only from about April through mid-November.
Special attractions: North and South Absaroka wilderness areas, Washakie Wilderness, unusual rock formations, beautiful river, camping, downhill and cross-country skiing. This eTrail is a complete description of a scenic drive with a route map and information on the best travel seasons, interesting sites, recreation opportunities, camping locations, and much more."
