Casper Area Campgrounds Professional Review and Guide
"Water and shade are worth more than gold in this hot desrt-like country, and in spite of first appearances, both are plentiful here. Deep canyons and forested mountains are not that far off the main routes. Water sports, fishing, wildlife viewing, and rockhounding abound in the vast country surrounding Casper. Pronghorn (antelope) appear in the endless open spaces prominent between camping areas. Watch the pronghorn carefully near fences- surprisingly, an antelope prefers to go under a fence as opposed to jumping it.
This can create a difficult situation for them should a vehicle chance upon them when crossing a road with limited ground space. Be mindful of their behavior and give them the space and time needed. Otherwise, the next available crossing could be too far away, causing unnecessary injury. Campgrounds included in this eTrail are: Casper Mountain, Adams Memorial Archery Range, Rim, Lodgepole, Grave Springs, Buffalo Creek, Okie Beach, Alcova Reservoir (Lakeshore Drive, Fremont Canyon, Black Beach, Cottonwood Creek), Pathfinder Reservoir (Bishops Point, Diabase, Weiss), and Grey Reef Dam."
