Ribbon Lake is actually two lakes that sit in a grassy meadow joined by a short, shallow stream. The hike to Ribbon Lake begins at Artist Point. The first part of the trail follows the edge of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone high above the Yellowstone River. Just beyond Ribbon Lake is an overlook by Silver Cord Cascade, a narrow 1,000-foot cascade dropping into the Grand Canyon.
