Grouse Mountain, Trail 205 Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Constructed in 2011, Grouse Mountain is one of the newest trails in the Bighorn National Forest. It can be a nice early-season walk while much of the high country is still under a blanket of snow. Early summer wild?owers can be impressive on the upper stretches. Expect to share the trail with cows and mountain bikers later in the season.

The Grouse Mountain Trail is one of the first trails you reach on the Bighorn National Forest when you leave Buffalo. If you plan a shuttle, you can even hike all of the way back to Buffalo when you couple Grouse Mountain with Mosier Gulch and the Clear Creek Trail. An epic and mostly downhill hike would start at Grouse Mountain and end at the Dash Inn Restaurant in Buffalo. If you are hiking this trail as an out-and-back, I’d suggest starting at Mosier Gulch and hiking uphill first."
