Detailed Trail Descriptions from Our Guidebooks

"The South Fork Boulder Creek is born on the broken flanks of 12,585-foot Mount Bonneville. It gathers its waters in the alpine lakes of Bonneville Basin and then briefly tumbles through a narrow band of timberline forest before spreading out into the broad lakes dotting an incomparable 5 square miles of high meadows. The Scab Creek Trail offers the quickest and easiest means to access the vast meadows and lakes of the South Fork Boulder Creek and the Mount Bonneville environs. A network of trails offers opportunities for extended trips, and adventurous backpackers will enjoy the numerous high cirque basins, cross-country routes, and nontechnical routes to many of the high peaks near the South Fork’s headwaters. Also, more than a dozen productive fishing lakes lie within a 2-mile radius of Dream Lake, and most are accessible via trail." Read more
