Lake Josephine– Beaver Pond Loop: Riverfront Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Historic Riverfront Park encompasses 347 acres along the Yellowstone River at the south end of Billings. The park, bordering the north edge of the river, is a popular site for hiking, jogging, biking, birding, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and picnicking. Within the forested park, meandering streams connect two ponds and Lake Josephine. The 24-acre lake was named for a steamboat that reached Billings in 1 875, the farthest point upstream that any boat had reached from the mouth of the Yellowstone River. This hike circles Lake Josephine through a lush riparian habitat with poplar and cottonwood groves surrounded by grassy meadows. Dogs are allowed in the park."
