Southside-Brooklyn Trail Professional Review and Guide
"Traveling high above the crashing rapids of the New River, this popular, leafy trail offers fantastic views at every turn. The rails and ties that still line the old rail bed (making for a bumpy bike ride) reflect the park service’s philosophy to preserve as much history as possible. Surface: Natural.
Length: 6 miles to Brooklyn, 7 miles to Cunard; one-way
Surface: Natural. Wheelchair access: No. Difficulty: Easy hiking, moderate biking. Although the trail is fairly level,
tree roots and old railroad ties make for a bumpy bike ride.
Food: Towns outside the park have groceries and restaurants, including Hinton, Beaver, Beckley, Mount Hope, Oak Hill, and Fayetteville."
