Stayed at Group Sites. Incredible view of Seneca Rocks. Explored the Discovery Center, hiked to the top and then down the back side. Very, very nice. Explored the little stores in downtown Seneca Rocks, then swam in a nice cool hole near the picnic area. Highly recommend this area
The campground was very clean. And the camp hosts were very kind people. The privacy was exceptional. We stayed here for almost a week with our 2.5 year old daughter just after the labor day holiday. So it might be on this account that the campground was almost completely deserted. By Friday we might have had 3 other campers in our loop - but it was still very quiet. The bathrooms are clean, and the shower was comfortably warm. WIth a lot of campers there might have been a crowd waiting for the one shower and one stall (men's room) at peak toiletry hours. But at this time it was not a problem. The only real problem with the campground is that the sites are not really far from the main road near Seneca Rocks. So, although in this remote place traffic is not heavy, the noise of trucks was clearly audible throughout the day and much of the night. We could also hear the sound of a sawmill or some other machinery most of the day. That said, for clean nice camping in proximity of Seneca Rocks, and convienient to your car, this is a very good campground and recommended.
The mountain, in which I climbed on Independence day weekend, was so amazing, covered with peacock-tailed rocks on the summit. It is distinguished looking at the rock cover summit from a distance when I was approching by driving. An hour of hiking to the top looks a little short distance after I drove three and half hours from Virginia. But I enjoyed a lot.
Great campground. The walk in meadow has fantastic views of seneca rocks and is great for viewing the moon and stars.
