Island Road - Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"A walk on Blennerhassett Island feels like less a hike and more like a Sunday constitutional. Your first step is aboard a stern wheeler for a short trip on the Ohio River. Landing on Blennerhassett Island feels like stepping back in time, with reconstructed eighteenth-century buildings, carriage rides, and old- growth trees.

The 500-acre island is located near the confluence of the Ohio River and the Little Kanawha River. Blennerhassett Island is privately owned but is held in a long-term lease by the state. The fifth-largest island on the Ohio River, it is less than 0.25 mile wide, but is 3.8 miles long. The state of West Virginia has developed the eastern end of the island as a historical site."
