Virgin Hemlock to Tyrone Trail Loop

Virgin Hemlock to Tyrone Trail Loop Professional Review and Guide

"This short hike follows the lazy Laurel Run. Coopers Rock State Forest in managed jointly by the West Virginia Division of Forestry and West Virginia University. One of the primary purposes of the West Virginia State Forest system is to demonstrate forestry practices. Forest management practices are developed and tested.

The State Forest system is a working and growing laboratory. Management practices attempt to increase the vertical layering of the forest to ensure multiple habitat systems. Approximately 21 percent of the entire state forest system has been designated to become old growth or mature forest to ensure another layer of habitat diversity. Special attractions: A creek crowded by rhododendrons and covered by towering hemlocks."

This is a wonderful trail. Very pretty and secluded. This is well worth the effort. Two updates to the information given in the description. At the beginning of the hike, you walk down steps and cross a bridge. At that point, you have to take a right turn. Also, I did not find Tyrone Trail at the point where it is described.
