Cranberry Bog Boardwalk

Cranberry Bog Boardwalk Professional Review and Guide

"The high elevation of the Cranberry Glades Botanical Area protects many unusual plant species that migrated here during the last glacial period. Walking through the glade is similar to walking through the bogs of upper New York State.

The Cranberry Glades Botanical Area protects 750 acres of mountain bogs. Bogs are black, acidic soil wetlands that are more commonly found in northern boreal forests. The ecosystems found here are holdovers from the glacial age of 10,000 years ago. The bog ecosystem is very fragile. Please stay on boardwalks where present. Special attractions: A wheelchair-accessible trail through a beautiful high bog."
