Robert W. Craig Campground Hiking Trails Professional Review and Guide

"An easy loop hike. This multipurpose project is owned and operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and is located on the North Branch of our nation’s river, the Potomac. Jennings Randolph Lake was designed to improve the water quality of the river downstream of the dam, to reduce flood damage, and to provide a source of water supply for municipalities and industry downstream.

The project also affords the public the opportunities for recreation such as white-water rafting, fishing, boating, camping, hiking, and sight-seeing. The Jennings Randolph Lake Visitor Center has on display the unique waffle rock. Special attractions: A beautifully reclaimed quarry, hiking through an upland hardwood forest, and a great view at the Sunset Trail Overlook."

This trail started out boring, as there was nothing to see when walking through the words, but when I got to the meadow, my viewpoint changed. The meadow and views from parts of the meadow are nice. I would have rated this trail 5-stars, but for the long road walk to the trailhead and back to the car. There had to be around 3/4 mile of road walking. Outside of that, I enjoyed this trail.
